History - Birth to Present: The Quick Version
Born in a barn in Pueblo (not really but it's more interesting this way). I grew up in Colorado, made it through college (6 years, 3 schools, and 2 majors later), fell in love with a beautiful woman and got married.
Employment
Dolphin Micro - Custom Software Contracting and Consulting
I've recently founded Dolphin Micro with my good friend and now business partner, Jay Stramel. Between the two of us, we can build pretty much anything from websites to ecommerce applications, to huge enterprise level software systems. I work daily with Ruby on Rails, Java, Java Server Pages (JSP's), PHP, HTML, Javascript, and CSS building dynamic web applications. I'm also our firms graphic design department (photography, image editing, web site layout), advertising department (newspaper, on-line presence, corporate website), and our CEO. What we can do at Dolphin Micro really is pretty cool and our corporate site gives all the details. Dolphin Micro on the Web
The Scott Real Estate Team at Keller Willams
If you know me at all, what I did while running the Scott Real Estate Team is certainly no mystery. I sold houses. Lots and lots of houses. I called people on the phone, I met people in person, I took people to lunch, and everywhere I went I sold them houses. I even sold myself houses, four to be precise. After six years of slugging it out in an all consuming, challenging, and highly competitive business, I decided enough was enough. It was time to take a break, see the world (or at least the United States), and figure out what I really wanted to do with myself. In the end, I decided it was time...to start another new business from scratch! This time at least I had a line on a good partner in crime.
Eclipse Incorporated
I had a great time writing Palm Pilot software, learning to grow a team, and finally being put in charge of all the add-on products that the company had. Once all the applications were built, I hung around for a while fixing other people's code (and plenty of my own) and bouncing from department to department until I ended up leaving to start my very first business.
Education
I started college at the Colorado School of Mines. After a year and a half, I determined that electrical engineering at an all male (OK not quite, but it might as well have been) all engineer school was just not for me.
Red Rocks Community College was my second go at higher education. Much cheaper and much more diverse. This is where I rekindled my love for programming and made my choice to major in Computer Science.
I finally graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Computer Science. The college life was fun but after six years, it was time for a change. I made it through flat broke, but with a little hard work and determination, no student loans.
